Support Your Dancers!

I personally think everyone should be involved in advocacy for whatever cause they believe in. This is why I encourage everyone in Texas (and maybe elsewhere) to consider being a part of the Texans for the Arts organization in some form or another. It's simple math, the more money there is, the more organizations can get a piece of the pie. At the very least, lobbying or petitioning is an important part of the democratic process. We have a voice and we need to use it. With that said, check out what they have to say and if you like it, support them. If not, I would at least encourage you to see as many dance shows as possible to support the hard working artists who only want to share their passion with you.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 NY/Denver Auditions

Now, it's really hard for me to write about the audition process because it is just the audition process. All I know is that I know the Lion Star Wars girl in the Denver audition. She's my college dance department's office girl. She rocks. :D

Push Comes to Shove

There are some inalienable truths in dance. One of these truths is that Twyla Tharp is awesome. Twyla Tharp has done it all. She is relentless.

As for the book, the book is hilarious and well written. It also puts into context the woman behind the choreography. She holds no punches and admits many of her own faults without sounding

Burlesque Cosplay

Burlesque Cosplay

Apparently Bordello Bar in LA had burlesque dancers do their routines in cosplay costumes (ie. Princess Peach, Chun Li, Link, Zelda). This is everything I love in life wrapped into one. I must work with these people.

My Last Ballet Exam

Today I took my last ballet exam. It was Gamzatti's variation from La Bayadere. It was awesome because my professor let me wear a tutu and a tiara. It was also heart-wrenching when I realized that I would be graduating this summer. D:

Hopefully this wasn't the last time for pointe shoes, tutus, and tiaras but if you're wondering which variation it is, here you go (it's a killer!):

PS - This is obviously not me.
